- a realistic respect for or favourable impression of oneself; self-respect.
- an inordinately or exaggeratedly favourable impression of oneself.
There is no secret formula to building high self-esteem, but there are a few general things to consider.
There are so many different things that make you who you are. Focus on the things YOU find positive. There’s no point in focusing on aspects of your life that others like to compliment, your opinion is what matters! And yes, there is something positive and it doesn’t have to be physical; it could be your health, your talents, your attitude towards life, the list is almost endless!
Sort out your priorities. School, family and friends are important, but you can’t achieve anything of substance concerning any of these things if your mindset isn’t right. Try taking a selfish day off from everything to relax and free your mind- a nice warm bubble bath should do the trick!
You don’t need to walk down the street grinning your teeth, and you don’t have to be the world’s most optimistic person. But you do have to wake up in the morning with confidence- you aren’t perfect, but you can strive to be better without first believing that you are already a waste of space.
Confidence is more attractive than you think. Find your inner Beyonce: you’re flawless!
