I would like to thank Adebola Showemimo of My Breaking Views for nominating me! I was first drawn to her blog after reading I Believe Donal Trump Could Be A Good President and have since been intrigued by how transparent, honest and informative her posts are!
I’m truly thankful to all of my readers for supporting Behind the Schmile..:) and turning a quiet little hobby into a platform where experiences are shared and in turn, readers are inspired and motivated (at least that’s what you tell me!)
The Liebster Award:
By bloggers, for bloggers, to bloggers.
With Liebster meaning ‘dearest’ in German, the aim of the award which started back in 2011 is to recognise and promote new bloggers.
1. What is your blog about and what made you start blogging?
Behind the Schmile..:) is simply about my journey to finding myself- discovering who I am, who I want to be and how I plan to get there, I share the lessons life throws at me in the hopes of encouraging those who are also dealing with the challenges of growing into adulthood.
I started blogging for selfish reasons- I wanted to document the steps I was taking towards self-improvement. The more I spoke to people around me, the more I realised I wasn’t alone in the issues I was facing and so I thought it would be a good idea to share my findings with anyone who is interested.
2. What do you find most challenging about blogging?
My greatest challenge is deciding how much to share, deciding how much of my life I am willing to expose to the world and summoning up the courage to give a little piece of myself with each post.
3. What do you love about your blog?
The feedback! I love it when my readers leave comments, tweet or send personal messages about how much they can relate and what they are able to learn from my posts- it gives Behind the Schmile..:) purpose!
4. What has been your favourite country visited and why?
Greece- this country holds some sentimental value for me! But aside from that, the people and culture and full of Schmiles, I can’t wait to visit again!
5. What political issue needs to be spoken more about? #MyBreakingViews
Global Warming. Those who knew me growing up will know that I was obsessed, and that was because it was being discussed almost daily, as of late, the only mention I’ve heard of it was when a certain President referred to it as a ‘concept’ created by the Chinese. There are obviously many other issues that also need more attention, to list a few that come to mind: child trafficking, FGM and modern-day slavery.
6. What would you like to achieve with your blog in 2017?
I would like to touch on some deeper and more personal issues- I’d like to share a bit more of myself in the hopes of encouraging and motivating my readers. I got great responses from my posts Black Depression and Differences Matter; I would love to reach a more intimate place with my readers,
7. Have you ever lived abroad? If so, where? If not, where would you live?
No. But I would love to live in Canada, I view it as the land of Schmiles!
8. Who inspires you the most and why?
I can’t pick one! All of the women in my family inspire me greatly: their success is as a result of their perseverance and self-belief: both great values that they have instilled in me.
9. What is your fave food from your country?
Yam & Beef Stew- a classic Nigerian dish
10. Do you have any networking events planned this year?
